Details of the Wellcome Primary Schools’ Playground League 2002-2003 (Amended)

1) Trophies/ Awards

- All players will receive a certificate of recognition.

- All teams in the final knockout champion stage will be awarded medals. The final 3 places will be awarded trophies.

2) Playing Rules

Format:

- 8-a-side matches with 8 overs per side. 1 over with 6 balls only.

- 8 players per team, reserved players up to 2 for interchange in the field at any time.

- Batting side bats in pairs with each pair facing two overs

- All fielders must bowl (over arm or underarm) one over each.

Rules:

- Pairs Cricket with over arm or under arm bowling

- When fielders bowl over arm, arm should be straight. Or no balls for that run, batting side will get three runs; no extra ball will be bowled.

- If ball bounces more than twice no ball will be called.

- If the Last ball of the innings is bowled wide or “No ball”, bowler will have to bowl again.

- Players are not allowed to change their team during the tournament; they should play all matches under the team they are registered.

- Official Umpires appointed by HKCA and Hong Kong Cricket Association officials’ decisions are final.

- Only plastic bats can be used.

Match Scoring System:

- Each team will be awarded 100 runs as the basic score.

- 3 runs for a wide ball and no extra ball will be bowled

- 3 runs for no ball and no extra ball will be bowled

- 4 runs for a ball hit along the ground through the boundary

- 6 runs for a ball hit over the boundary

- 5 runs deducted to batting side for the batsman out

3) League Point System

- Winner = 3 points

- Equal result both team will get: 2 points

- Team lost: 1 point

- If team withdraws no point will be awarded to them, the opponent team will get 3 points.

- If match is washed out by bad weather, the match will be treated as tie and both teams will get 2 points.

- Matches will be played in two stages which the format of first stage is Round Robin (from January to May 2003) and the format of second stage is knockout day (one Sunday of May 2003).

- After the first Round Robin Stage, top team of each division will enter the one-day knockout day.

- However, if 2 teams or more have equal league points, the total runs of every match of those teams will be counted and determined which team can finally enter the final.

4) Remarks

- Before the match, representatives of each team should report the match number to the umpire.

- There will be Hong Kong Cricket Association umpires or representatives in each match.

- Each team should register their player under their team name.

- Player age eligibility U-13 years old and the date of birth should be on or after 2 September 1988.

- Each school can have 2 teams and the list and bio data (e.g. School hand Book copies) of players should be given to Hong Kong Cricket Association before 31st December 2002.

- The deadline of entering the league is 31 October 2002. Application after the deadline may not be considered.

- All matches will be proposed to play in Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground or Po Kong Village Cricket Ground during weekdays or weekend from January to May 2003. Unless with the approval from Hong Kong Cricket Association, school teams have to play the matches in these venues.

- If any player represents Hong Kong National Team, he or she will not be allowed to play in the Playground League.
