The following are the specific playing conditions for the 2005-06 HKCA Playground League.

Format:

  1. 8-a-side matches with 8 overs per side. 1 over with 6 balls only.
  2. There will be 4 pairs of batsman and each pair will bat for 2 overs.
  3. Each team can have 2 reserved players for interchange in the field under the condition of injuries of the players. Reserved players cannot bowl or bat and can only field.
  4. If the team has less than 8 players,
    Fielding : The teacher has to select one or two of the current players to bowl the rest of the overs to ensure that 8 overs are bowled.
    Batting (for 7 players) : The teacher has to select one of the current players as the runner. He or she can only be the runner in the seventh and eighth overs. This runner cannot bat.
    Batting (for 6 players) : The teacher has to select two of the current players as the runners. The 1 st runner is for the fifth and sixth overs while another runner is for the seventh and eighth overs. Both cannot bat.
  5. Team with less than 6 players will be disqualified.

Rules:

  1. Pairs Cricket with over arm or under arm bowling.
  2. Out: 5 runs deducted to batting side and the batsman has to change position.
    •  Bowled-out
    •  Caught-out
    •  Run-out
    •  Handled the ball
    •  Hit the ball twice
    •  Hit wicket
    •  Stumped-out
  3. No ball: 3 runs for batting side if the batsman hit the no ball, total runs will be counted.
    •  When fielders bowl over arm, arm should be straight. Otherwise, no ball will be called.
    •  If the ball bounces more than twice during bowling, no ball will be called.
    •  The front feet of the bowler is out of the front white line (poping crease).
    •  The short field ball is bowled over the shoulder of the batsman in his batting stance.
    •  Ball is bowled full toss over the waist level of the batsman.
    •  Batsman cannot be out except on a Run Out.
  4. Wide ball: The ball that the batsman is out of the crease. If batsman hit a wide ball is no longer wide.
  5. Dead ball: Due to the objective situation that the bowler cannot finish his/her bowling, he/she has to bowl again.
  6. Bye: If the wicketkeeper cannot catch the ball, batsman can run for score.
  7. All fielders have to bowl 6 balls in every over. No extra ball has to be bowled for no ball or wide ball except in the last over of both innings, the last bowl has to be a legal ball.
  8. If the batsman runs but his bat or any part of his body has not crossed the crease, the short run will not be counted.
  9. Fielding team can bowl from one end only, and the bowling direction will be decided by the HKCA.
  10. Teams have to provide their own bats and stumps.
  11. If players have any misbehavior against sportsmanship or fair game, HKCA umpire can give warning to the players or team. They may be finally disqualified.

Scoring System:

  1. Each team has 100 basic score.
  2. Wide ball: 3 runs
  3. No ball: 3 runs
  4. No ball out of the boundary: 7 runs
  5. A legal ball out of the boundary: 4 runs
  6. A ball is hit over the boundary: 6 runs
  7. A ball is hit along the ground through the boundary: 4 runs
  8. A batsman out: 5 runs deducted to batting side.

Administration:

  1. Players are not allowed to change their team during the tournament. They should play all matched under the team they are registered. If they violate this rule, they will be disqualified.
  2. All players have to report to the umpire before the match starts.
  3. All matches should have HKCA representatives or umpires.
  4. The date of birth should be on 1 January 1993 or after.
  5. The teacher should give their team's information (Application forms, I.D card copies and 2 pictures of the player) to HKCA.
  6. Player have to bring their date of birth prove during the match.
  7. If the team is late over 15 minutes, they may be disqualified.
  8. For appeal issue school teacher should write a letter to our Appealing Board Committee within one week after the match.
  9. HKCA has the final decision right.

League Point System:

  1. Winner = 3 points
  2. Equal result of both team: 2 points
  3. Team lost: 1 point
  4. If team withdraws or absent, no point will be awarded to them and the opponent team will get 3 points.
  5. If match is washed out by bad weather, the match will be treated as tie and both teams will get 2 points.
  6. 1 st Round Robin Matches will be played to decide to which 8 team will be qualified to play in the knockout cup final (from January to May 2004)
  7. 2 nd Round Robin Matches will be played for those teams that have been knocked out in the 1 st Round Robin Matches and the 8 top teams in this stage will be qualified to play in the knockout Plate Final (same day of the Cup Final)
  8. However, if 2 teams or more have equal league points in any stage, the runs of every match of those teams will be counted and determined which team can finally enter the final.

Fixture:

  1. Round Robin Matches: All matches will be played at Po Kong Village Road Cricket Ground during weekdays (Wednesday or Friday) or weekend from January to May 2005.
  2. Cup Final: HKCA will divide the schools team into 9 divisions, 1 st Round Robin matches will be played in each division first. The team with the highest score will be qualified to play in the cup Final.
  3. Plate Final: Apart of the top team, other teams in each division have to play the 2 nd Round Robin. The team with the highest score will be qualified to play in the plate Final.
  4. Final Day: Cup Final and Plate Final Day will be arranged on one weekend at Po Kong Village Road Cricket Ground or Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground.
